Existing home sales in Wisconsin fell in November compared to the same month last year, but home prices increased over the same period, according to the most recently released analysis of the state’s housing market by the Wisconsin REALTORS® Association (WRA). Existing home sales in November were down 6 percent whereas median prices rose 6.6 percent to $145,000 between November 2013 and November 2014.
The last couple of months have been a bit of a roller coaster in terms of sales,” said Dan Kruse, chairman of WRA board of directors. “October sales were up over last year but sales in November were down” Kruse said. Comparing year-over-year sales for the two months, October sales rose 658 units compared to October 2013 while November sales declined 288 units relative to November 2013. “Putting these numbers into perspective, our housing market remains strong in Wisconsin,” Kruse said. “We had the strongest September to November sales period since 2006, before the Great Recession began

The Wisconsin housing statistics are in for November of 2013. Here is an excerpt from what the Wisconsin Realtors® Association (WRA) had to say:

Wisconsin home sales fell 6 percent in November 2013 when compared to November 2012, although total sales for the year remain ahead of 2012. Comparing the first 11 months, home sales were up 11.1 percent in 2013 over 2012. Prices were also higher in November, rising 4.7 percent above the same month last year, to a statewide median of $136,000.

Over the last two months, the housing market has definitely cooled from the red-hot pace that characterized the first three quarters of 2013.” said Steve Lane, chairman of the WRA board of directors. “This was bound to happen since the base of comparison is 2012, and that was a very strong year for home sales.” he said.

Lane pointed to markedly higher mortgage rates, steady upward movement in prices over the last year and a half, and heightened uncertainty of federal fiscal and health care policies as potential factors for the cool down..

Counties of WIThe Wisconsin housing statistics are now in for November of 2012. Here is an excerpt from what the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA) had to say:

“With 17 straight months of healthy growth in statewide home sales, there’s no doubt that the state housing market has seen a real bounce this year,"  said Renny Diedrich, chairman of the WRA board of directors. She pointed out that the year-to-date sales are up 21.2 percent, which is by far the highest levels seen since 2007, just before the recession officially began.

“The decline in the median price in November follows a relatively strong uptick in October, so it’s difficult to say precisely what caused this volatility, but year-to-date, median prices are still up,” said WRA President and CEO, Michael Theo.

Counties of WI

The Wisconsin housing statistics are now in for November of 2011. Here is an excerpt from what the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA) had to say:

"We are definitely closing out the year on a strong note," said Rob Keefe, Chairman of the WRA Board of Directors, noting that the seasonal pattern of home sales typically slows as winter approaches. "The strong market of the last few months has pulled sales in 2011 nearly even with the 2010 level," he said. Keefe noted that year-to-date home sales through the end of November are now less than 1 percent below last year, and that is without any bump from the federal government to stimulate existing home sales.

"This is clearly a buyer's market, and while inventories are down from October, they still remain high at more than 14 months," said WRA President and CEO Michael Theo. "This means buyers will be in the driver's seat for the foreseeable future. The economy did get a little good news in November with an improvement in the national unemployment rate and even an uptick in consumer confidence and consumer expectations"
