Ryan~I agree with you but it is my understanding that even when we sign the petition it will probablyh get vitto'd and never really happen but it does cause a ripple affect in the sence that we are being taken advantage of. The rise in gas is going to cause a rise in food, airline travel, etc etc and we are already in a resession and we are only furthering/deepening it. This petition is ment to say "you are our government and we want change." We want you to know that this is crazy!! We want you to know that the their are other solutions and we want you to look into them. May it be digging (which we know the probably wont do) or alternative fuels. And.......TRUST me when I say I have done my research on electric cars (GEM cars) and I would LOVE to get one but I live in Orange County CA and electric cars can only go 35 MPH. I would only be able to drive down my street. That's it!!! I have running shoes for that. Besides I don't think my clients would like to ride on my back....I tire easily! There are 2 sides to this and neither are solotions but I am all for change and innovation. Thank you Ryan cause again I do agree with you!
So.... what if I don't want to see gas prices lowered? I am not excited at the currant prices and where they are heading BUT this is a NEEDED growing pain. Using oil is toxic to our world. The industrial revolution has done more damage to this world than the last 20 million plus years of human existence. So Stacie like you and I enjoy reading your posts but I don't agree that this petition is helpful to you, me, our kids, or anyone else for that matter. There are other ways to power the things we love and there are less toxic ways to due it, but the expense involved as been a block when fossil fuels were so cheap. Now with fossil fuel prices rising the relative costs for alternatives is decreasing. As Realtors we consume a higher than average amount of gas compared to normal driver use due to the nature of our work. It makes it even more important for us to strive to be green. NAR is the largest professional association in the country imaging the impact if all Realtors were required to preform all business travel in battery powered vehicles. And if that electricity came from the sun or the power of lightning or the power of the oceans tides just imagine the prestige, the stewardship and the eventual cost savings over fossil fuel. Just Imagine.
