  • I just got a Nikon Coolpix 530. It IS a point and shoot with a 50x zoom. I wanted a camera with  a view finder as well as the view screen. I also wanted one that takes a battery pack not multiple batteries.

It was $399 at the camera store. I found it on sale at Best Buy for $299 just last week. It comes with a battery but not a storage card. Extra batteries cost about $40 but I haven't needed to change batteries because the charge lasts a long time and the camera has an automatic shutoff to save battery life.    Cards are always on sale somewhere for $10-15.

I'm very pleased. It is easy to use.  Great photo quality and quick focus.  This is my 3rd digital camera.

  • Jenyfer, it depends on what you want it for. If you're looking for something for BPO's just get a good ultra zoom bridge camera. You can go from wide to zooming in for address verification shot without changing lenses. I use a Kodak z990 because it fit my needs and I got it at 50% off on close out. Kodak doesn't make cameras anymore (a new company licensed the name but they aren't make by Kodak) but Sony, Canon, Nikon and Fugi all make pretty good ones. They'll run $300-400 but if you find a close out model you can get one for half that.

If you are looking for a camera for listing pictures get a decent DSLR. Most people buy Canon or Nikon but I shoot Pentax and Sony. For image quality you can't beat Pentax but they are a little pricier than the Sony's. You can get a K-50 for about $400 because it's a couple years old and soon to be replaced. I got a new Sony A58 last year for $360 and old Minolta Maxxum lenses will fit Sony and you can pick them up on ebay dirt cheap.
